My GSD's face began to swell about an hour ago. Lips, eyes, frantic rubbing of her face.

I rang the out of hours vets who told me to give her 1-2 piriton. How many of these can she have throughout the night until I can get to the vets tomorrow morning?

no idea tilly, is she better with the piriton? you could phone the vets again.
Sorry to hear, Tilly......as anne says, i'd ring the out of hours vet for the correct dosage until tommorrow morning, when you can take her in for full check up.

:0)
Oh Tilly, I can't help, just wish there was a vet on here, love and cuddles to pet, sibs, xx
can only suggest lots of water but I'm sure you've already provided that
Tilly can't you see an emergency vet tonight? I did when Maggie was so poorly, gone midnight when we got there.
I would give her 1 just now and see how she gets on. If there's no improvement in an hour or so, I would give her another.

Do you know what has caused the reaction?
Ring the out of hours vet back and ask them!

Sorry, to ask an inane question. I will ring again. I was in a panic because she was so distressed. She seems to have calmed down a bit now. Flipping heck!
Has she had a bee sting?
Tilly, any news?
Hi Tilly, how is she today?
Question Author
Hi, sp. Just got bac from the vets. All calmed down now. We don't know the cause but fortunately we had some Piriton in the house and that worked. The vet was at a loss to know what to say really apart from monitor the situation and keep Piriton in the house. It was truly frightening to see her so distressed. She didn't know what to do with herself.

Thank you for asking.
I'm so glad she's OK. It's horrible seeing your beloved pet in such a state, not knowing what to do to help.

Thanks for letting us know. x
Just seen this.

How awful for you and your girl, hope she gets better soon x

Is she the one that was poorly a little while ago?
Question Author
Thanks again, sp. (and Psybbo for asking earlier.)

Hi rocky, Yes, the same dog. She is at that age where she has become a worry. One thing after another, bless her.
Good news, Tilly, thanks for the update xx
Glad she's ok now, Yilly. sounded very scary.
