Sexing A Budgie

My son bought a budgie that was five weeks old at the end of October. So he/she is nearly 4 months old. His cere is purple at the moment, but he is very acrobatic, never stops singing and imitating whistles and is starting to talk we think, you have to listen very carefully. Any body help?

I,m pretty certain that male budgies have a blue nose!
Can't describe the female budgie...its a light colour, that's all I know .

I've had budgies, it's blue for male and brown for female. Not sure about purple... but the behaviour is male.
