Hoping today brings relief for both of you - I’ve been watching your posts with interest since my dear Missie had a bout of pancreatitis just before Easter and spent two and a half days on a drip ( home at night ) My vet was right on the ball & suspected pancreatitis straightaway though she’d just stopped eating & was very flat, and luckily she responded very...

Afternoon All. We had a good night last night and he's still taking his pain relief and appetite meds. They both seem to be working and I would say he is a little better again today. One of his friends here came in to see if he's like a walk but he got as far as the front door and refused to budge. He has gone out into the garden and disappeared into the bushes a few times so I think his bowels are working!!
He is getting slowly better I think Choux thank you. He's asked to go for a short walk today and yesterday and he's now on pain medication only for 4 more days. When that finishes I'm hoping he will be OK.
I don't believe it. As I'm typing this he has started coughing and gagging again!! Stopped now. Phew.

I don't know Seekeerz. He has had a lot of owners in his life. I got him from a Rescue in Sept 2020 and he had his first bout of Pancreatitis in my care in June/July last year and his second bout now. No idea if he had any before I got him. As I have mentioned before, it could have been my fault the first time as he refused dog food and wanted what I was eating. Rather than him not eat at all I gave it to him. Wrong! We are at war again now but he gave in last night and ate his boiled chicken pieces but tossed the peas and carrots around the room. That means he will probably struggle to poo today, sigh. Yes he does keep me on my toes.
That does make it very difficult not knowing his past history - I was very lucky with Missie, she came to me through a friend when her previous owner passed away and she had always attended another vet here in my area so we were able to access her full history which can make all the difference when something like this turns up.
Missie is now back onto her normal diet and she does seem much happier- I do hope Jay settles down quickly to eating properly and gives you some peace of mind…all the best xx

Morning lb. The joys of rescuing a pet - been there a few times and it seems the older the pet the less news there is on their history. So much trial and error. I think of J every day and wonder how his progress is going. Hopefully, with everything crossed, you might be able to get the vets off your speed dial very soon. Give J a cuddle from me please x
Ha! Know what you mean. The same as J. If it's raining and he won't go out in the rain, his BFF from across the corridor comes in and they both roll around the floor with some of his toys and have a great time.
Jay is improving slowly day by day. Tomorrow evening will be the last of his painkillers then we'll see what he's like over the weekend. If he's OK then he can go back out with his walker and coterie of mutts on Monday. He has to be able to walk for an hour with them. If there is any doubt he can't go as she would have to bring them all back again before the hour their owners have paid for is up.
