Animal wee problem solved!
This is not a question, but hopefully an answer to an animal urine smell problem. One of my cats Ozzie uses my house as a toilet. I have tried all the usual cures i.e. like putting food down where she goes etc but nothing seems to work. I have resolved myself to just clearing up after her, but of course the major problem for me was the smell which I could never get rid of properly. I hope I have found the answer which is a product called Urine Off. It is a spray, costs 14.99 and you just spray the affected area and leave it to dry. You can use it on carpet and fabric and on fresh and old stains. I got the product a few days ago, sprayed it on an area that she had gone in previously, in my hallway and prompty got rid of the horrible background smell of urine in that area! I have also used it today as she decided she did not want to go in the rain and used my dining room instead. After clearing up the puddle, I sprayed the area. It got rid of the smell immediately and left a nice fresh lemony smell, unlike some I have tried which smell worse than the urine! If anyone wants to read more about the product, you can go to the website www.urine-off.co.uk and it will tell you all about it. They make products for cats, dogs and humans! They supply commercial premises (pubs etc) or residential. It has seemed to work for me, which is why I wanted to share the success with others. Cheers Sue

As I said, I had tried most things to stop her, even tranquilisers from the vet to try to cut across the behaviour, but nothing has worked. Both my cats came from the cats protection league and Ozzie was found as a young stray, I think her behaviour stems from the poor start in life. She is very much loved and spoiled now though!

i bought some of that and it came with a black light to light up the pee stains. I found it didn't work, the spray that is. I know if there is pee on the carpet you will need to soak it right down through the pad or as far as the urine went through to get rid of the smell. I read somewhere that cats never pee where they eat! Bologna!!!!! They do too pee where they eat sometimes.
I have large round shallow feeding tins as i do cat rescue and cats share the tins to eat and once finished if i dont pick up and wash the tin immediately after they have finished i will later come back and find someone has peed in it! try finding a citrus oil spray that you can spray in the areas you do not want her to go. Cats do not like citrus smells. I found an orange oil scented spray and i find that if i keep spraying the area every few days before the smell can fade again then they usually stay away. It is not fool proof though. The only things i know for sure my cats hate is the smell of nail varnish remover and the carbonation bubbles from sniffing a soda. If only i could bottle the two and and combine the remover stench with the nose tickling bubbles i would be set, but alas i've come up with nothing yet.

Thanks Kaylamay, so far I have not noticed any further smells where I have sprayed, but it is early days so I will see how it is long term. Thanks for the advice with the citrus oil. I love citrus smells and use the orange oil spray in the house, I will try to spray this on the hallway carpet and see if it works (it is a bit in the corner, so if it stains will not notice too much). Good on you for taking in rescue cats, I would always go to a recue centre for pets rather than get them from someone in the paper or a pet shop.
