Cat wont go through cat flap

my cat is 5 years old and we have recently installed a cat flap in the garage door so she can go in and out and use her cat tray and eat her food, unfortunately she wont go through it we have pushed her through both ways but that just seems to make her worse need some help please

I did exactly the same thing as The Prophet (but with string and a little net curtain hook screwed into the door!) and it did work.

Yeh they will use it eventually, cats are funny creatures always wary of the unknown, I have had a cat flap for years and still one of my cats sits looking at it bemused.

Don't do as hubby did...he used to open the flap inwards for 1 of our cats till eventually she went out of it on her own. now she opens the flap like that herself and gets in a muddle trying to get through
