I've got a 7 year old tom house cat. He had a sister the same age up until two years ago but she died. He seems happy and is VERY SPOILT but i keep thinking maybe he would like a companion in case he is lonely. I saw some kittens on tv today that is what set me off again. Advice please.

Cats can be quite happy in their own company and if you are spoiling him and he is not showing obvious signs of anxiety then I should let him be. Some cats take to kittens and others hate them so it's difficult to say how he would react. Kittens are very demanding and he could get jealous. If you want another cat it may be better to get an older cat.
Dont let your heart rule your head coco, if your cat is happy and content why upset him.As you know cats get set in their ways and at seven I think yours will be.Bringing a youngster on the scene will cause problems in your household,if kitty is happy leave him that way.
we initially had two kittens, and at ten months we had to get rid of one (for one reason or another). our cat was absolutely fine, and probably even more loving than when we had the two of them. anyway, six months later my husband wanted another cat, but i was unsure about how she would react. i got talked around the the idea tho! we got a kitten, and the older cat was very uneasy around the new kitten. it took a good few days of hubby sleeping on the sofa with one cat, while the other slept with me upstairs. they are getting used to each other now, playing together. but bare in mind, these are females. females tend to be more mothering, i dont know how a male would react as ive never had a tomcat.
