My dog is in the dog house!
I was very annoyed with my rough collies, one or both I'm not sure. Made two christmas cakes, 9 inches, left them on the table in the kitchen. Went out and came home to find only one cake !!!! a piece of cake the size of my fist and a little greaseproof paper was all that was left of the other one. Also it was on my bed.!!!!!!! However the dog was very ill in the night but bitch was ok. Somehow think I know who did it.Don't you.?

I cut 2 large slices of cake, but them on a plate on the coffee table & went back to the kitchen to get the tea. When we got to the living room there was only one piece of cake on the plate and my collie was looking very pleased with himself! My GSD bitch would never dream of pinching human food, so I know who the culprit was!!
I made a lovely hedgehog cake once with chocolate icing and buttons stuck in it for spines. it was for a special party for friends whom we hadn't seen for ages and I was very proud of it. When I went to get it most of the icing had been licked off, some of the sponge had been eaten and there was as very smug cat licking her lips next to it. Needless to say she was not my favourite cat for a long time!
I had an Irish wolfhound who took stealing to a higher level. I once noticed her "tiptoeing "suspiciously down a corridor from the kitchen. She was holding a plate with a whole cake on it ! Instead of doing the obvious thing and eating the cake off the plate on the table, thereby leaving the evidence for all to see, she'd decided to sneak off with the plate. Well, you never know, the whole thing might not be missed, but an empty plate plus crumbs would be seen for sure ! I didn't disturb her, just watched. As soon as she got to an open door, she broke into a brisk trot to make her getaway into the garden to eat her prize.
Lankeela I think that your mother must have been related to my late mother. That is the sort of thing that she would have done.
I remember her asking me if my dog would eat the leftovers from her lunch. I didn't think that it would agree with him. "That's okay, we'll give it to your dad when he gets home". Nice to know the hierarchy in the house....Dad at the bottom of the pack!

When I was a lad (more years ago then I like to remember )
we used to get our dog food from a local shop that sold raw "Fallen" stock meat for pet food. Mum would then cook it and give it to the dogs. One Saturday, Dad who'd been working late afters commented that he'd made some sandwhiches for his supper and that the roast beef had been great. It was years before mum, got round to telling him he'd eaten the dogs dinner
