I have a yorkshire terrier dog (10years old) whose mother died last january of skin cancer. His skin is starting to smell really bad and is oily. He's rubbing against the furniture to and loosing hair from doing this. What should i do? Is there a possibility it's not cancer? Can i put something on him?

Thankks!

Hi Sazzie,

If it smells bad and is itchy, it could be a skin infection which would be helped by a long course of antibiotics. It could also be an allergy, and while harder to control, is still better than the big C. Take him to your vet and I hope he's feeling happier soon!
Understandable that you'll be worried.Doesn't sound like cancer. Sounds more like a common skin condition. The usual feature of cancer is that it doesn't cause pain or discomfort. Either way this little dog should be 'vetted' asap!
