Guinea Pigs
Hi,
Can anyone please offer any advice regarding Guinea Pigs?
How long should you it be before you try to pick them up, etc?
How long does it take before the Guinea Pig begins to trust you (and stops running away!!!)
Any other advice?
thanks...Spcl x

You need to hold it so that it is supported under its bottom and if you stroke it and talk to it gently it will soon learn to trust you. I sit with mine on my lap and offer him some food and he is fine now (Guinea pigs love eating!). However even very tame guinea pigs often run away when you go to pick them up so don't worry too much. As long as you can pick them up and handle them confidently they settle very quickly.
They are lovely, gentle little animals and have lots of character so good luck with yours.
