My little cav lets me know by doing a sneezing motion!! Is this quite normal behaviour for a dog?

Better he/she lets you know with a sneezing motion, than not at all and you only know about it by stepping into a puddle!! We have a Staffy who just whines and stands by the back door when he needs to go out. If he whines by the front door then we know he's trying to tell us the cat wants to come in!
My youngest GSD will also just bark once, sometimes if she needs to go in the night, I will hear the bark and as I walk towards her she will start leaping up at the back door, she almost gets high enough to touch the ceiling with her nose, she leaves you in no doubt whatsoever that she is DESPERATE!! the other dogs are a bit more sedate, the other 2 GSD's will whine at the back door, my 'Borderline' Collie doesn't go out at night 'cos it's dark and scary, (I kid you not), during the day they have the dog door open.
Elsa, my GSD, has a particular bark for when she needs to go out. It's totally different from her other barks. Jake, the collie, just pees on the floor!! (Not often, because I know when he needs to go so take him out regularly!!) It's OK, it's a tiled floor in the utility room, so it's easy to clean - just thought I'd add that in case any of you thought my place stinks of dog pee!!!
