Just been to the vet and my poor boxer has got kennel cough. They've given us antibiotics for it but was just wondering if there was anything I could do make her feel better other than lots of cuddles?? Its awful just sitting watching her with a hacking cough.

Just let her rest and keep her as quiet and unstressed as possible. Don't fuss her too much as she needs to sleep as much as possible to help her get better.

I know how you feel because I had two dogs with kennel cough at the same time and it sounds so dreadful. They both did very well on the antibiotics and recovered quite quickly.

Hope she gets better soon. xx

Benylin is ok to use on dogs and will soothe her throat. (If you can get it down her that is!)
if she won't take the benylin, try some sardine oil or a bit of honey, whichever he will take, both are soothing

Thanks for your suggestions - most appreciated!!
Yes Benylin is good, I gave it to my dog when he got kennel cough, we also used it on the army dogs, just small doses though.
a strain of the Kennel Cough seems to go round and round in my local park.
The only symptom is the yackng cough, they don't get streaming eyes or any nasal discharge. My 2 dogs have had it twice in 8 months now!!!

You can use cough mixture but make sure you get the one for children and not adults. We got benylin for children and gave them 1ml 2 -3 times a day. But we were under strict instructions from the vet to not use the benylin for more than 3 days
My little pup had kennel cough when we got her from the shelter and I know how horrible it is to watch them hack and cough so much. I used to mix a little benylin with a little honey and she would lap it up. I think she knew that it would sooth her a little.
My Bella had a particularly bad dose of kennel cough and had to get a second course of antibiotics before it cleared fully but now that you have your lovely lady boxer on antibiotics, I am sure she is on her way to recovery.
Good luck.
PS - The cuddles have got to help too !!!
I gave mine Manuka honey which really helped.
