Africa and every other property used this method. As for cats, they hate citrus fruit so empty orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime etc put where they are going works too. good luck
No, that is not true!
That myth started as a practical joke well over 25 years ago in New Zealand - ON APRIL FOOLS DAY.
It was 1st April, a gardening expert, Eion Scarrow, was on the radio. He said if you do the plastic water bottle thing on the lawn it will stop dogs pooing.
The very next day NZers were putting these water bottles on their lawns. Eion & those who realised it was a joke, shook our heads & laughed & laughed.
Then it jumped the ditch & started happening in Australia! So Eion went back on the radio & said it was all just an April Fools Joke.
You don't see water bottles on NZ lawns anymore, well maybe the odd few. But it has spread all over the world.
I've now started to shake my head & laugh & laugh again.

I tried Gels, sprays and powders and all to very little effect..I spent 50 on a sonic device and it has been far more effective, but not ruled to problem out completely. If the cat or dog does foul your lawn you are supposed to clean the area thoroughly as soon as poss to remove all traces of its scent - use water and washing up liquid - its tricky trying to work out where to place the sensor as if you have dogs of your own it can distress them - this was a problem when taking my own dogs out for a walk as often they would trigger the damn thing just by walking past - humans can barely hear it but they HATED it. I cannot remember the last time my front lawn was fouled by next doors cat, but that might be the few jugs of water carefully aimed at it! Good luck and I do feel for you as the cat next door left very smelly and worm-ridden mess on my garden a lot! I found it disgusting. x
