Dogs itchy paws
My silly little terrier mix has problems with her paws.
After we come back from walks, her paws seem to be very itchy. Initially I thought it was nettle stings but even when we walk places where I don't spot nettles she seems to be bothered. She tries to scrape her feet along the carpet as if she is trying to take off at real speed and then she chews at them.
Has anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks.

Otherwise, the problem could be caused if she's taken, for example, around fields where farmers could have done crop spraying?
Is she usually taken to the same place(s) for walks?
Have you spoken to other people walking doggies in case they've experienced similar problems?
Being a terrier, I'd half expect her to disappear into the undergrowth etc if given the opportunity?
All sorts of things could be causing the problem but you really need to take her to the vet, in case it's being caused by any poisonous substance she could have gotten on her paws, hence the reason she's licking them.

Thanks paraffin. I haven't taken her to the vet yet but I intend to.
It seems to happen after she comes back from most walks eg yesterday she was running round a forest park and then later around fields but on both occasions she was biting and scraping her paws when we got home.
We were with another dog who didn't experience any probs and I am confident thast neither place would have been sprayed with anything.

Sorry my not-so-bright suggestions don't seem to have solved anything.
The only other thing at the moment I can think of is that it's possible that she may have got something stuck in the pads of her paws, i.e. tiny seeds etc which can cause great irritation.
However, I wouldn't want to pre-empt what a vet might decide.
The best of luck.
