Wonder if anyone else has had this with there dog. My dog was barking, as he usually does , suddenly stopped his head was down, and he was sort of arched. after a while he flopped down when he got up he was walking like he was drunk. with his front paws crossing each other and his back ones just keeping up. He was also dribbling a lot. I sat down with him and after a while he got up ,dazed for a while. But now back to normal.

that sounds like a fit to me. Keep him quiet for today and get to the vet this week. Fits are controllable but need medication and a proper diagnosis
Agree with woofgang, sounds like a form of epilepsy, keep the dog as quiet asyou can, see the vet. Will need bloodtests to confirm , is controllable.
Best of luck to you both.
I agree, it could have been a fit but what kind of dog is he?
I ask because I have a KC cavalier & they are prone to something called Episodic Falling which is a lot like the symptoms you've described.

Many thanks for all your replies. He is a very large rough coliie ,9 years old.
I kept him quite, as I could, as he is alwas so vocal.. And he seems ok.
will keep a close eye on him.
My mum had a springer and it happened to her. They thought she had a stroke but it turns out she had a tumour in her head which put pressure on a nerve and gave her these "fits". Sorry to sound so awful but even if he has calmed down I would get it checked. There is preventative medication available.
Hi lilacben; it does sound very much like a fit of some sort. I think you really need to get him to the vet ASAP to confirm his condition.
I hope he is OK. My friend's Lurcher was recently diagnosed epileptic, it is controlled with medication and he lives a happy life. Let us know what happens.
please please don't just keep a close eye, take him to the vet....how would you feel if he had another one of those while in the car or when is alone.
Hi woofgang, I am pleased you said that-it's what I was driving at in a more roundabout way! x

Hi all. Just to thankyou all again and let you know he has seen the vet and he thinks it likely a fit as well. I have to keep an eye on him and if it should happen again get him to a vet.
Hi lilacben, thanks for the update, let us know on his progress. Cuddles to him x
