just an observation.
My husband has had to go away for a while, 10 days really. The cat has been very odd as in looking quite sad and mooching around very differently than usual. My husband left his slippers in the hallway and today the cat has been sleeping on the slippers all day, and only leaving them to eat and go outside. Just goes to show that pets sense when things change.

Yeah-cats certainly do sense changes! I was away at the weekend and my husband was at home with our 4 cats. He told me that Bagheera (who is definitely 'my' cat) was behaving very out of character, wandering aimlessly around the flat and then sleeping on my pillow.
We also think that they all know when it's cattery or vet time because they all disappear even before the cat-carriers are got out! Cats have a kind of 6th sense!!
Have a good day x

Max travels well and is never any bother but when he has to go in kennels for a long weekend, perhaps twice a year, as soon as we turn into the road to the kennels he starts to whine, how he knows he's going to the kennels I don't know but he does. The worst thing is as soon as he sees the kennel maid his tail starts wagging and off he goes without so much as a glance back leaving us feeling guilty for leaving him
If our cat saw me packing cases he would climb inside and snuggle down as if either to say Im coming with you or youre not going. When the cases were packed and put by the front door he had a little white toy seal he would put on top which was all he needed for the journey. We had to sadly have him put to sleep after a long illness last Nov he was nearly 19 ! I think he knew this was his time up when we took him in the car to the vets. He wouldnt go in his cage as normal but was quite content resting on my shoulder in the back seat and never murmered even when the vet gave him his final injection. He was a brave soldier right to the end. God Bless Him.
Apparently when I went travelling (I was away for a year in total) my mum told me that my cat took a liking to sleeping in my dirty washing basket that was kept in my room even though there were no clothes in there. I guess it was the only thing that still had my scent on it? When I got home she ignored me for a good few days as if to say 'you abanoned me and I am not happy about it'. Bless!
