Are you sure the dannios and barbs are coldwater compatable?
Question Author
They're surviving ok. I have a few, but mum suggested breeding them to make money.
is that so she can jack in her poxy job ;-)
lol
You are not going to make much money molly breeding Fish in a Fish Tank, probably none at all. You will have to open a Fish Farm in Suffolk......
Question Author
But the bigger tank and more fish etc i'd need would come to over £100, meaning this would probably take ages to get my money back, and that's if i'm successful.
Ok, 2nd point easily answered....you won't make money. By the time you've researched (you were going to do that- right?) your fishkeeping, bought all the necessary paraphanalia and made sure your tank is an its optimum, any money you make will be peanuts. Most aquariums breed their own fish, so obviously won't shell out money to buy yours from you.

As for breeding itself- im guessing any you do breed will be more from trial and error, and you'll be extremely fortunate if the offspring dont get gobbled up by the rest of the tank's inhabitants.

my advice? You don't know what you're doing, give it up as a bad job before you start :-)
BOO is right molly ! Concentrate on passing your Exams instead and find a part time job for the Summer Holidays to keep you occupied and earn some pocket money.
Get yourself a good hobby ......
She already has a hobby redman, winding us lot up.

I only have two more easy exams to do.

I go to cadets and have my own little dinghy they're hobbies.
Also, not sure about the barbs and danios, but I do know that your minnows will get eaten by the goldies as soon as the goldies figure they're big enough to fit in their gobs :-)
Question Author
Yeah boo, that's why I said about buying the extra tanks, so that they can be kept sperate.
Question Author
* separate.
Ha Ha squarebear ! Any Pirhanas in that Fish Tank of yours molly, better check to make sure....:-)

No red, I have a baby goldfish named tango. Two danios named Nemo and Peach. Two minnows named Ruby and Pearl. And two cherry barbs called Cherry and Perry. An I can tell them all apart. I've been reading a book on fish breeding my mum got and worked out now have worked out I have two male danios, a male and female minnow, but I dunno about the goldy and barbs.
Two male dannios?! Yep, good luck with that then.
molly, im prepared to be wrong on this one, but im 99% convinced dannios and barbs are tropical fish and not suitable for a coldwater tank.
Plus only 2 barbs is cruel. They're a schooling fish.

I really wish people would research thoroughly before embarking on things like this. It infuriates me to hear folk willy nilly dumping fish into a tank and expecting all to be well. Yes they might only be fish to some people, but they deserve a quality of life once in your care. Part of that quality of life is knowing what you're bloody well doing.

<and breathe Boo>
They are tropical fish. Every thread I have seen from Mollykins has at least one inconsistency.
Boo - chances are this scenario doesn't even exist.
