tom cats spraying
we've got a 12 week old tom kitten called michael! i was wondering as tom cats "spray" does that stop if he is castrated?

It tends to be territorial, if another cat is around. Invest in a good spray to clear the smell - I found Oust Three in One is good. Spray is also very corrosive - mine sprayed up cupboards and on some brass screens, and the stain is is really hard to remove if you don't catch it quickly.
Your Michael still needs "doing" though, he will wander less and not father unexpected kittens.

my two - both neutered - did continue to spray.
It didnt smell (to me) as they were no longer able to produce the chemical that makes it stink like a Tom can.. however they do only do it when stressed or marking territory.
Dont punish him if he does it... You can buy a spray from your vets Feliway - which contains pheramones to reassure the cat and smells like 'themselves' so they dont mark as they think they have already marked!
