I've just come across a toad on my patio. Should I leave it alone, or take it to the nearest water - a river around a quarter of a mile away -?

Leave it, it knows where its going. We have one that comes out on rainy days, he's lovely. He goes home later. He probably lives under a bush in your garden somewhere quiet. Is it wet there? Should the heading not be - "Found Toad" ?
Leave it, it knows where its going. We have one that comes out on rainy days, he's lovely. He goes home later. He probably lives under a bush in your garden somewhere quiet. Is it wet there? We always leave a saucer of water out near the bird bath for him to bathe in (yes I know I'm animal mad). Once we had two high empty flower pots in the garden without holes in the bottom, couple of inches of water in each, a toad got in each pot and couldn't get out, not a pretty sight.

thanks Helen, it just seems a long way from any ponds.....

Wolf - one of my dogs found it, and I was trying to see the situation from the toad's point of view.....

Hi smurfchops, thanks for that, it's very dry and humid at the moment, that's why I was a bit concerned about it. There is a damp area under some fir trees - I hope that's good enough for it.....
Toads don't live in ponds they only go to them to breed. I'm sure it's not lost and it knows exactly where it's going. Leave it to go on it's merry toady way.
