Then it became very obvious why the exclamation ''faugh!'' was invented. So, yes, definitely diet. And bags of mixed dog biscuits always used to include some of the black charcoal ones that Euphemia mentions.
When we had our bull-mastiff cross (1980 to 1988) he was prone to being windy. I remember reading that certain breeds, ones with deep chests and narrow (in comparison) tummy, were more prone to gastric problems such as this.
I remember one Christmas where we were all sitting in the livingroom with the windows open due to Hutch letting off a few blasts of noxious fumes - it was freezing cold but we chose to die of hypothermia rather than asphyxiation.
