Dog-walkers

We have a small front garden, not fenced in.

Why do some people allow their dogs to urinate on my grass? OK, when a dog needs to go, it needs to go but not right underneath my living-room window. What would you say to the owner/walker??

Before anyone says, just fence your front garden in, no thanks.

You can buy crystals that put dogs off. Just sprinkle some on the grass. Perhaps a nice little wooden sign that says "Please keep your dog off my Grass".

As a pooch-owner myself, I think I might give the crystals a miss tho.

There is a nice grass area across the road where they could pee to their hearts content :)

Most folk do pick up their dog's poo tho, I'll give them credit for that.

You could ask your local zoo for a bag of tiger poop.

Apparently that discourages most animals from coming near your garden.

(also keeps passers-by at bay, I should think)

Install a sprinkler system in your lawn.

Or just go out shouting ranting and raving like a crazy woman. That'll put the off.

Walk out in a chef's hat, holding your biggest knife, and say you want to buy the dog.

They might give your house a wide berth after that.

Evian, my dog loves the sprinkler.When running a bath we have to lock her in another room as she competes with the potential bather to be first in there!

I would never let my dogs pee on someone's lawn, totally unacceptable!!

The problem with owners of male dogs is they think it is acceptable or even natural to let their dogs mark everything they pass that is above ground level. It is not acceptable or natural! How far do you they think a pack of hounds would get if every male in the pack scented every tree it passed? not very far.

I certainly know the difference between when my dogs want to scent mark and when they want to wee, they are only allowed to scent mark in our wild garden, that is their territory, if they stop to scent mark anywhere else the are told "no" and they walk on, No problems. I hate seeing people walking their dogs through town where the dog has to pee up every post, bench or tree.

I must admit, my Gilligan did actually mark me one, I was stood talking to someone in the street, we were talking for quite some time when I noticed that my leg was getting extremely warm, Gilligan was stood there leg cocked and peeing up my leg!!! I put it down to young doggy confusion!!

I think Carakeel trained him to do it in my absence!!!

As you have a dog, other dogs can smell it & put their scent down - its what dogs do.

dogs will urinate on the move. I put down lemon washing liquid to deter them.

Tambo, if you know your dog then you will know what it is doing, I have had dogs all my life and yes if you let your dog start peeing it will continue, if you don't let him start then he will wait a moment to move away from a certain area.

The problem with so many dog owners is they will never actually put any time or effort into training their dog, I see it every day when I see young puppies pulling their owners down the street with no attempt to correct them or jumping up to people!!

If my dogs are about to pee or poo anywhere, I can just so "no" they will wait for a few moments to move to somewhere more appropriate, usually just a few seconds away.

If you live in an area where you might get a resonable response and not get some abuse back. Put a polite sign on your grass ' Please dont let your dog use this grass, Children Play here, Thank you'

Your solution begins with eradicating the existing smell of urine as this will give dogs the urge to pee in the same place. My dog 'goes' on command but she will still sometimes squat and 'find some more' if she scents where other dogs have been. You can't just drag a dog along by the collar can you?
