Have just collared our local 'countryman' to come and look at some droppings I've found on my back doorstep for the past week or so. Had a suspicion what beastie was causing it and 'Old Jed' verified things. I have a little owl roosting over my back door! How lucky is that? well worth the clearing up each morning - the little pellets are fascinating, full of tiny bones, hair etc - am sooooo chuffed.

I will redman - am away for a couple of weeks later this week but will certainly try. Hope he or she is not just passing through and am also hoping that by me being away he/she may feel less disturbed. At least I'm in the back of beyond so it's quiet.

as I'm an 'odd adult' rowanwitch - thanks for the link. My lucky day today - although one of the surrounding farms is obviously spreading something - the stench is awful - and quite unfamiliar - not the usual muck spreading.
really good if you get all the bones right the animal comes to life and is eaten by the owl again

Rwitch ;-)
Someon said the Little Owl is the smallest owl in UK. Someone else said it was the "Teat Owl"!
Sorry couldn't resist.
Ha Ha dido ! The TeatOwl is coming to get you
T-wit who...you
LOL
Brilliant I used to see Little Owls everyday but you don'y get many in Hove funnily enough.

That muck spreading - not got some human waste in there I hope as there are a few doing that nowadays I hear?

amusing comments re: teat towel - aren't you an a load of wags :-))) xxx
ladybirder - am a country gal through and through (or gel depending on the shire) but this is a really bad smell (as different to silage, muck spreading, even pig manure) - I really thought something very large (think tyrannasaurus rex (sp?)) had died, rotted down and the maggots were having a party whilst far?ing) - really really bad and I've closed doors as a result.
So probably some human waste mixed in then, it's vile, truly vile. You have my sympathy honestly.
Question Author
thank you ladybirder - as I say, I'm not a townie however, closing the doors has worked so we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Ohhhh, lucky, lucky you
