Cat Milk
27 Answers
Do any of you give your cats milk? Mine always normally just has water but I bought him a little bottle of Whiskers cat milk as a treat today, I mean I'd get bored drinking just water every day. He seems to like it but I'm wondering if it's actually a bit rubbish for his delicate little tummy.

I've always given my cats' milk and they have lived to sixteen and a half years, seventeen and a half years, and both died naturally of old age, and the latest is about thirteen to fourteen years old, and still going - she has it on one side of her food bowl - she has the choice to drink it or not, there is always fresh water there if she wants it and she don't seem to get an upset tummy or anything (touch wood). She may not want it all, though I don't give her much, she's a very little cat and a fussy mare at that! She will only eat one particular brand of catfood and we are right under her paw - and she terrifies one of the dogs unmercifully!
Thinking back, I think the cat I had as a child used to get given the big dollop of cream from the top of the full fat milk bottle (shudder). It's also just occured to me he often helps himelf to my leftover wheetabix and I've never seen him be poorly after having the cows milk. He also seems to prefer the manky water he finds in a pool in the garden than the fresh tap water.
