Should answer your every need.
Most vets usually recommend 5-6 months, Ziggy my Avatar is having his nuts off next week at 4 and a half months, the vets were fine with it, the only down side they said to me is that he may be slightly smaller than the average cat, In America you can get them done at 8 weeks old, which I think is unfair, One of the reasons we want Ziggy done is that from an early age he gets very aroused by fleeces and his little member is permantly out through the whole process until he is finished, (wet patch left) Plus he cries at the dog flap because he can't understand how the other cats can go out and not him.

If you can check that both testicals are dropped, depending on age of kitty it should not be a problem.
I got my cat done at about 3 months.
Bu$$er me ummmm, Wish I new your vets a month ago, I do think it is always best to get them done early, my opinion is better to have them off or spade before they know what it is all about.
go with your vet's advice - different cats have different developement rates - but...... the rule of thumb is the earlier the better - far too many unwanted kittens in the world - wish everyone had your responsibility dustypuss
We thought we'd wait to have our kitten 'done' at six months...she had 6 kittens before she was 6months. Best check with your vet. Any time from 5 to 6 months, is the norm I think.
When we first took him, about 10 weeks, they said his gonads weren't big enough. Took him back 2 weeks later as planned and his gonads were still pretty small. They said he just wasn't very well endowed....bless.

He's 2 now...and still has a very kitten'ish face...
My tomcat is being done next week. He is only just 6 months. I waited until he had developed fully as I heard of ppl having them done too early, leaving some testicual tissue behind as a result which can leave them with urges that include terratorial markings.

My cat is a 100% house cat, he never goes out (the lazy old bugger is never awake long enough) but because we have a dog too he may look to mark terratory if he's not 'done'

Thank you for all your answers. He only 2month old so it looks like I can wait a few more month before I get the bricks out then ;-)
I had an uncle who used to put them head first into a welly and snip them himself.
