They arrived early this evening over our house, circled high up then did a lap of triumph screaming - just to make sure I knew they were here!

How do they know ? Their  timing as always was  perfect as it was the stickiest day so far ensuring large clouds of insects a-plenty.  Amazing!  Summer is definitely here.....

Yes Cetti!! - I was outside pretty much all day (Sat) & I couldn't decide if I'd heard a familiar sound or whether it was my tinnitus! ;-)  Couldn't see anything until evening & saw a couple in the distance - fantastic,I'm a happy old bird, they're a few days early!  We had an amazing storm in the night so the humidity today will mean loads of insects for them to recharge their batteries. Here's to a lovely summer!

Hi Robby! How wonderful and even more amazing that they hit Derby and Dorset at the same time. They must have arrived on the same plume of warm air. Is there a leader that decides where each little group will go do you think?

I expect this will be classed as a chatty thread, but I prefer to think of it as an 'exploration of nature' or as the politicians would say 'fact finding' :-D!!!

Confirmed - they've just been 3 times & screamed around on the corner (next door neighbour is corner house) & I could see them just above our hedges! :-)
