info on Loach fish.........
hi
Does anyone know any info on loach fish? I have bought 2 for my cold water tank (on advice of pet shop) but have since read they are tropical fish.I already have a goldfish and a shabunkin in the tank. Does anyone know of any good sites online i can read up about them eg what they like to eat etc....
thanks,

I've never (ever!) had good advice from ANY pet shops or aquatics centres. Generally your better getting a good book, take it with you into the shop, and look up any fish before you buy them!
With the loaches, my understanding is that some of the loach species will survive in either slightly warmer cold-tanks or slightly cooler tropical tanks. So as long as your goldfish are kept in a reasonably warm room (and your loach is one of those species!) you should be fine. Some fish are the same - off the top of my head I think its White Cloud Mountain Minnows (although I could be wrong!) that can go in inside/slightly warmer goldfish tanks OR tropical tanks as long as they aren't heated too hot. I've seen Siamese Fighter Fish kept quite happily in a warm place but without an actual water heater, too! Hope that helps!

hi all
just to let you know, i have now taken back my 2 loach fish which turned out to be chinese sucker loaches as they were attacking my original 2 fish. I have now bought a lovely looking Moor fish from a proper fish shop. They have given me proper advice too, the original pet shop was happy to take my fish back also which was good news for everyone
