A trip to the vet
28 Answers
When I take my furry friends to the vet the vet comes out and calls the patients name when it is my appointment. I never thought anything of this until my friend took me up and laughed when the vet called "Frankie" instead of my surname.
What does your vet do?
I have just returned from a trip to the vet - Frankie was as good as gold. Two weeks ago his sister Merlin turned into a huge wild animal and started lashing out at any human in sight. This was after the vet called her "two sandwiches short of a picnic" - I just call her Princess Merlin the Stupid. Merlin is beautiful though - she doesn't need brains. :-)

Is Spare Cat still lurking? Is he a de-balled guy?
It is only seven o'clock but I have been up since the crack of dawn (for our trip to the vet) and I am shattered. I am off to turf Frankie off the duvet. I don't think that he enjoyed our little trip very much.

I seem to remember my vet just calling the first name....
Caspar has not been to the vets recently-but when he's gone,he's been good as gold. He doesn't even need much pushing into the carrier. Not bad for such a big lump of a cat....he's a softie, really.
Whereas Sally the Lurcher won't even get in a car. ;-(

Two of my dogs love seeing the vet, and try to drag me in the door! We have a very nice female vet that we see most often, who calls us in using the dog's name and sometimes my surname. The cat, on the other hand, detests going to the vet, but I think that it is more the cat carrier and car journey that she hates - when she gets to the vet and out of her cage she sits with every muscle tensed, but stays like that throughout the consultation, and will not speak to us for several days once we return home.
the cat's name is also my father's name, so when they call "Harry ******" it always gives me a bit of a shock!

As you can see from his picture in my avatar Frankie has a pink nose. When he gets stressed it turns bright pink. On a trip to the vet it goes bright red.
I have never seen a chicken at our vet - but it is a city practice. I have seen a horse in a vets car park though.
When we get back from a trip to the vet Frankie spends a few hours going around the house howling. I think that the whole trip freaks him out - we have to go about every month to six weeks.
Princess Merlin is difficult to read - one minute she looked calm at the vet and the next she lunged at the poor vet. She has no qualms about sticking her teeth into flesh - I should know!
