Badgers digging up the garden
4 Answers
This one is for my sister in law. Her beautiful back lawn now looks more like a battlefield in the Somme as a family of badgers have trashed it. I know they are protected animals so is there any humane way to deter them? Her neighbours on either side also have the same problem.

Found the above, also, the following which has an "unwelcome" badgers section, as well as lots of pro-badger information:

I know it's easy for me to say as I haven't the problem, but I'd love to be able to observe badgers close-up.
Don't drive your car at them - it will WRECK your radiator. :p Would lighting the garden help? Perhaps shout BADGER at them very loudly. Sorry - not being helpful I know. Perhaps it's just a simple case of stronger fences - and deeper concrete supports for the fences - so they can't tunnel under so easily. Sorry for being obtuse earlier. Good luck!
you are right, badgers are a protected species..you should really contact your local authority and seek advise. But unfortunately if you have a family of badgers within 10metres of your property this becomes protected land, and you dont actually have the right to inteerfere with them! They should be left until they wish to move on. pants isn't it?
