I have a 1yr old staffy x bitch who has two luxated patellaes. She will undergo surgery (1 at a time) to correct this, but I was wondering what herbal medication I could give her before and after the ops to assist and possibly speed her recovery. I have already started her on glucosamine.

Just my own opinion... but I really don't think you should be giving your dog any medicines before an operation without consulting the Vet.
And herbs safe for humans can be toxic to some animals leave well alone However there is some suggestion that dogs gain benefit from treatments like reiki and acupucture there are animal practitioners out there might be worth searching to see if there is anyone near you
Ask your vet. That's what they're there for. They are doing the ops. Apart from herbal remedies being potentially dangerous, if they worked in general we wouldn't be giving them the fancy name of 'herbal remedies'. Vets and doctors would be using the active ingredient in what we call 'medicines', or not using them at all !
Definitely check it out with your own vet, but this website might be worth looking at:

Holly is a fantastic vet, and has done a lot of research into complementary medicine for animals, particularly dogs.
