What bird?

I have tried the RSPB bird identification site but can't find what I am looking for. The bird in question is bigger than a robin but smaller than a blackbird. Red back of head and a very striking yellow flash on its wings. I thought it might be some sort of woodpecker but can't find one matching what I saw. Thanks for any help.
