Please keep fingers crossed for ASBO!

Unfortunately ASBO has eaten something caustic which has blistered his mouth. I took him to the vets tonight as he was salivating beyond words. He had an antibiotic shot to deal with the blisters in his mouth and I am meant to give him pain killers. Unfortunately (and despite my strict instructions to the contrary), whilst I was preparing the nursery wing, no 1 step son let him out. So now poorly ASBO is at large and his Slave is feeling quite helpless and bereft!

No I haven't used anything like that just lately - I did at the weekend, but this was something he must have picked up Thursday night/Friday morning. Vet seems to think that he has either walked in something caustic and then licked his paws or drank from a puddle with something caustic in it.
I did wonder Ladybirder whether he had been deliberately poisoned, that is a thought that I am trying not to consider.

Poor boy, One of mine had all is throat and mouth burnt with dettox, but you have ruled out that one, he may have drunk from a puddle like your vet has suggested that may have had petrol residue in, hope he gets better soon.
p.s. I always keep in my cupboard royal canin convalescence sachets that you can either by online or vets stock it, Cats love it and it gives them all the nutrients they need to stay healthy under illnesses, see if your vet has some its brilliant and will be cooling on his tongue. good luck

Missed this Barmaid. Am hoping ASBO is recovering well. I had a kitten with a similar problem and he made a full recovery. Unfortunately it was caused by a Detox kitchen spray which he managed to get on himself and then lick it off. And they says these sprays are harmless and advertise using them on highchairs.

I hadn't seen your post about Asbo until now, I do hope he is now on the mend now Barmaid. The fact that there are some very nasty people around was a contributing factor in my four hooligans all being indoor cats, though they do venture out into the yard occasionally though they seldom wander too far from the kitchen door.
Note to Josephine, I will try and get some of those sachets to use when any of the hooligans are feeling a bit poorly.
Your Ziggy looks very like our Max - if Ziggy is anything like Max you will have your hands full! He's not so much cat, more of a free spirit, I swear he must have been a hippy in a previous existence!

Nungate, Ziggy, (Aka as Zoggy man) is quite a mellow loving little man, up until he has a feed me NOW moment where he morphs into crazy relay mode, If he has been fed and demands more and i am on pc he will sit in front of the screen chasing the curser arrow, knowing full well he is trying to wind me up.

Good evening - I've just sat down after slave duties (feeding the felines and the humans and cleaning for the house guests tomorrow!).
Mr ASBO appears to be recuperating quite nicely. Although he is still refusing all food apart from chicken broth and king prawns (funny that!).
He has stopped salivating and his coat is starting to recover. I think (fingers crossed) that my boy is on the mend. I do hope so, because my nerves and my carpets cant really stand keeping him in for much longer!!!
