but i don't want to kill it. He says they give it something that makes them stay alive but not feel any pain before you kill it but I want to know if there's any way I can keep it alive and maybe put him back in the sea or something. Please help asap!! x

Take it to the sea as soon as possible.
Don't be daft.

just stick it in the freezer for about 3 hours. Then boil up a big pan of water and drop it in. Lobster won't feel a thing, but it's gorgeous.
I wouldn't bother to freeze it myself, straight in the boiling water
Fill the bath, put lots of salt in it, put the lobster in the bath overnight, take the lobster back to the sea tomorrow.

but now i've seen it moving I don't want to eat it, if I put it in the sea will i survive? I live very close so I can put it there but don't want it to die for no reason (if it's going to die anyway I will eat it) but just want to know if it's too late to save it.
Question Author
will that work is salt water the same as sea water?
If its moving its worth a try but go now, tonight.
its too late

you have to kill it to eat it, not wait for it to peg out after a lingering death

get the pan on
Where do you live, Heather? If you're by the sea, then leg it down to the shoreline and chuck it in. If not, do what Barmaid says.
Depends if the sea near you is suitable for it. If it's outside its area it will probably die anyway.
Who knows if it will live. It's been caught in a lobster pot, landed, kept out of water, brought home to you. My view is, its unlikely. What the heck was your BF doing bring home a live lobster if you were going to react like that?

In cornwall so I'm literally a 2 minute walk from the sea but I don't know if it will just die in the sea because it's all doped up now.
Let him deal with it.
Some butter lemon and garlic may help it (only after it's been in the pan though)
You'd have to get the right proportions of salt to water to equate it to seawater. Was it locally caught? Lobster is one of my favourite foods but I can understand how you feel.
I am just chortling at 'Latest Posts' which currently says :

He didn't know i would be such a baby, it was supposed be a treat which I have ruined.
I think it has already started to shut down. My view is cook it. At least then you can be assured it had a quick death. Freeze it for 2-3 hours first though.

hang on, I've never knowingly cooked a drugged lobster - when did that start?
