Morning All!

I'm up an about on what is a very mild, but clear, morning in south Cambridgeshire. I notice that two of my dogs, both poodle/American cocker spaniel crosses have not yet returned from rabbiting. They were last seen at about 11pm, when they rocketed off from the house and across the farm, heading for the woods and warrens. Should have guessed; fairly good moonlight is ideal for dogs, whose vision in low light is far better than ours, and there's a fair chance that rabbits will be grazing then too.We have nocturnal or, rather, crepuscular, rabbits around here.
Hope they are back by 11 am. I'm taking a friend to Heathrow then. Whenever they return they will be wet, having crossed the river, and completely covered in mud, from investigating rabbit holes, just two eyes peering out from a dark brown, earth-covered body. Ah, well!
Hope your day is happy and uneventful !

All of them prefer sleeping and lazing about to doing anything resembling exercise, but they get the call of the wild every once in a while, and then distance or effort is no hindrance. The other morning I went down to find two of the wolfhounds dragging the carcass of a muntjac deer across the garden. No idea where they'd killed it; the trail led from the hedge; but they, rather sweetly. were heading to the kitchen with it; perhaps they thought I was going to help them dismember it or hang it for a few days to improve the flavour for them.
Hope the cough clears up soon, fgt.
