Jess who's 13 dont give a monkeys if we bring in another cat, she's used to it. Sophie is 10 and a bit more wary of new cats, but shes so independant that she'll go away for a few hours (to sulk) and come back at feeding time, then she is fine. And finally Ramsey who's 8 and dont care about anything as long as her bed is free, i'm stroking her and she has food.
Your kitten will be fine on her own (mine dont even play/sleep etc together) as long as she has got toys etc to play with. Cats sleep for 16-18 hrs a day so she is more likely to be asleep when ur a work. If you really want another kitten, then now is the best time because they will grow up with each other. I always got more than one kitten at a time just so that the young ones wouldn't annoy the older ones.
You can keep adding to you cat family if you want to, no matter what age they are, as long as you give the current cat as much attention as you give the new one.
Hope this helps, and let me know what you decide.

Hi Sammy & Adam,
I tend to agree with Kelley(I too have several cats) BUT if you are worried your kitten will be lonely, then yes,now would be a good time to get another kitten, before she regards your home as hers alone;and there is nothing cuter than seeing two kittens playing together.LOL
