My baby is getting spayed tomorrow (she's just 6 months). It's about 17 years since I had a cat spayed. How has this Op progressesd? I have had some bad luck with cats' health in the last year and am over anxious, any experiences to put me at ease?

She will have a small wound, probably 1-3 stitches in her flank. She will be ready to eat at supper time and will be back to normal the following day.
Remember, although it is a big deal for you and her, it is routine for the vet staff.
First of all I don't want to alarm you, but will your kitten be having tests to ensure she is fit enough for anaesthesia? I always have ours checked before they have to "go under" as one of my "girls" had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic when she was spayed and it was touch and go for a little while. We'd no problems with our other cats. Just keep an eye on her when she comes back and if she is very listless and floppy, take a look at her gums and if they are a very very pale pink get her back to your vet pronto. I wanted to alert you to one possibility, I'm sure everything will be fine and she'll do well.
I'm happy to say my cat recovered well and is curled up on the sofa beside me
How did your baby get on today. I hope that all went well.

Thank you for asking jakep. We just got back from vets about half hour ago. She seems fine, a bit disorientated and subdued but everything went smoothly. I have to take her back for a check-up next week but other than that she is supposed to be back to her normal self by tomorrow.

Thank you too desky, and nungate.
I'm glad to hear she's fine Prudie I hope you didn't worry too much when she was away getting "done"

Actually I did worry at work and my heart was in my mouth at 2pm when I was due to call the vet to see how it went. I've lost 2 elderly cats in the last year both involving lots of upsetting trips to the vet so I'm being a bit oversensitive.
