Is there any way to discourage a crow from sitting on your roof, we have one that seems to have adopted ours, it annoys the dog no end and this morning at daybreak the thing was making a great racket right by my open velux window, I'm quite ready to shot the bloody thing.

Help, thanks.

Noooo, you saw it eat a little bird! Right it has to go, if it touches one of my blackbirds I'll climb up and wring it's neck.
Wow, that owl would make a great perch. :o)

Reminds me of my neighbour's attempt to stop the birds landing on her fence - she put up a row of plastic spikes. The birds appear to love 'em. They certainly didn't work as a deterrent. :o/

"Nail a few hundred cartons of Kia-Ora on the roof (it's too orangy for crows)..."

Lol, lol.
If it's a choice between Boris Johnson and that flippin' owl on the roof....
Boris every time!
Have a chat with the crow,Rocky....explain how you feel about him and what he is doing to you. If he doesn't go someone will eventually come and take you away for a nice little holiday... ;-) x
Showing our ages there rocky ;-p

I bet you're not too far behind me snags ;)

Gness, I have actually roared at him telling him he's doing my effing nut in and he needs to jog on. Perhaps I need a softer approach, what d'ya reckon ;)

Do they not live in pairs? All I need is a squawky missus to turn up.
Crows are a protected species nowadays,I have several that come round close to my garden, what I have done is obtained a laser pen and shine it at them.Cheap off ebay.
''I bet you're not too far behind me snags''

Well I remember the advert the second time around in the late 80's whereas I presume you remember the early 70's original (runs off quickly).

Ooh, my son has one of those somewhere. Thanks Razza.

No...no..no..never shout, Rocky. Calm and sweet.....squeeze a little tear from the corner of your eye...appeal to his better nature.
He could of course be casing the joint for a group of his fellow crows to join him...a group of crows is called...a murder of crows... ;-) x
Question Author
Well I think snags has inadvertently hit on a solution, whilst reminiscing over Kia Ora adverts I found a snippet that said crows are intolerant to citrus fruit so I'll lob a few slices of a naval up onto the roof and see if he buggers off elsewhere

Memories! I loved this ad.

I looked after a crow once, raised it from a chick to an adult. They are intelligent(more so than a cat), affectionate and charming. I guess people only kill them through ignorance, which is sad really. When I suggested discouraging a sh1tting cat with a BB gun half of AB attacked me yet people here suggest killing a wild creature because it make a noise and nobody raises an eyebrow, shame on you.
Question Author
Jom, please relax, no one's serious about killing the crow, this is a light hearted thread.
You think so?
Jom....don't get upset about a bit of fun...we all say...I could kill...I could kill my sister.....but I won't...or perhaps...no...give me a while on that one.
Yes some will take pleasure in the power of killing an animal but this is Rocky's fun thread....Rocky will be befriending Mr Crow soon. :-) x
Question Author
Yes I do think so Jom, this thread is a bit of banter, if I really wanted to kill the bird do you think I'd come on a public internet forum and ask advice. Read my OP, I asked about discouraging.
Question Author
Gness, I'll get the ladder out later and have a quiet word, good job I'm in a bungalow! I'll post a pic so Jom can rest easy.
I am reminded of one of my threads where I was contemplating shooting the squirrels in my garden...........

Good luck deterring your crow Rocky, I have magpie problems and their cackling is driving me potty!
Question Author
Hi Eccles, we get a fair few magpies aswell and they can be a bit noisy, but rarely come near the house, they're usually hanging about on the fence at the bottom of the garden. It's just started to pee down here now so the crow has probably buggered off for shelter, I would like to say 'peace at last' but the rain is noisy on the conservatory roof, can't win lol.
