Is there any way to discourage a crow from sitting on your roof, we have one that seems to have adopted ours, it annoys the dog no end and this morning at daybreak the thing was making a great racket right by my open velux window, I'm quite ready to shot the bloody thing.

Help, thanks.

Nope, if it ain't crows, it's bogging seagulls
You must have done something to upset it :-)
I would say that you should get a cat but knowing my two they would probably fall off the roof and land on the dog. Crows are pretty vocal.

It's like it's warning me of impending doom, I wish it'd bog off. What do they eat? There must be a plentiful source local.
I know how to scare off a cat but most of things that would work would probably have no effect. You need to scare it shiitless and then it might take the hint.
Shoot it. They don't go and they attack cats. My poor kitty loves to sit in the sun on the roof and the crows dive bomb him. They are the only creatures that can intimidate him.
I don't normally suggest to do mean things to animals but crows I don't like. They chase the hammerkops and other lovely birds
A couple of magpies attacked our cat once, he was sitting on top of the dustbin when they dive bombed him. Not sure if it was because he was the same colours as them though Black and White.
Mines also black and white
Wonder if the cats colours are anything to do with it ?.
When my son was about nine he had an air rifle and always tried to shoot the crows but couldn't hit anything then one of his mates came over and had a go and popped two straight off. Had to put a stop to that immediately. They are really big when dead on the ground.
The farmers shoot them, Brinjal.
I'm sure they do tony but didn't feel right encouraging 9yr old to kill creatures. But I really have no time form other than they are clever and they mate for life so I guess that is one redeeming feature
Yes I understand that regarding a 9 year old, Brinjal.

If I knew how to fire a gun I'd shoot the bastard thing quite happily. My dog is too big for him to bother attacking so he just sits on the aerial mocking him instead, it drives the poor thing insane.
Rent a cat for the week. Not that my two would be of any help with the old stalking and killing stuff.

Wish I could wolfy but my dog would eat it.
Crows are among the most intelligent of all birds, some have even learnt to use computers to order pizza!

Just the other day, I looked out of the window and saw one on line ;-)
I don't think a cat would be a match for a crow.

Why not try to figure out why the bird likes to sit on your roof and rectify the situation, instead of killing it!
Please never kill a crow.....I have one as a familiar and it could be mine.
Try asking it nicely to leave....:-) x
