Dog Picking Up Frogs

Hi my little jack Russell keeps picking up frogs in his mouth then starts spitting out foamy spittle for about 5 mins, he seems fine after, but I am worried about what harm they could do him. any one know if frogs can harm him?

The parotid glands in frogs exude toxins, which cause the foaming at the mouth you refer to. However, if your dog seems to make a quick recovery, there's probably absolutely nothing to worry about. (It's likely to be the doggy equivalent of us encountering stinging nettles. It's unpleasant at the time but, unless you've got a relevant allergy, an experience which is fairly short-lived).

Thank you so much for your reply Buenchico it has put my mind at rest. hes a little tyke thinks hes a great dane and hes only 8inches to the shoulder lol thanks again xx

Sounds more harmful to the frogs!
Toads are more toxic.

Most JRT's do kendra- think they're bigger than they are!

All the ones ive met, including my own, are utterly fearless and will take on anything, no matter the size of the opposition.
