Has Someone Got Room In Their Heart And Home For This Poor Dog?

I have fostered dogs for this small charity and I hope the Ed will let me put out this plea for one of their longer term residents. The cold weather is here and Copper, a 14-year-old Doberman/X is about to spend his second winter in freezing kennels. He has waited 18 months for a home and is still waiting and it is taking its toll on his health as you can see if you click on page 8 on the following link.

If you can't adopt him permanently then could you offer him a foster home for a while? He would be so grateful. The ideal placement would be as an only pet as he doesn't much like other dogs or cats and he does have separation anxiety. On the plus side he loves people, is undemanding, enjoys his walks which would ideally be in a low dog density area. He is very happy to snooze the day away in front of the fire afterwards.

I can post an adoption form or a foster form for anyone who feels they could help Copper, or you can find it on the website. Thanks for reading. X

When you think of all the people who might be saying 'oh, lets get a puppy for Christmas', this really is sad.

Oh,has he?
Yes,if course you're right about ratter (he is good off-lead:-)).
Someone must be able to give this boy a chance?
If only, I have my 4 dogs running free most of the time along with about 60 chickens free ranging in the farmyard let alone all the rabbits, horses, alpacas etc.

I really hope the poor dog finds a home very soon. Have you tried an appeal on Facebook?, I would happily "share" it.
There still has to be somebody who needs a loving companion for the long cold winter nights. To snuggle up to and keep each other warm and help you to get some exercise in the day time. And I have a lovely warm blanket to send.
la,la, la.
Poor Copper, sorry I can't help, I only wish I could. Ladybirder do these kennels offer any heat source, is it down to cost? I'd be happy to contribute some money to help pay for it. The kennels where I put my dog when we go away offers heat for £1 a night.

:(
Got to go now, going out but I will keeping thinking and I will ask around if anybody would give a lovely little dog a good home. Hopefully when I log on tomorrow it will be good news.
What a lovely thought, rocky. That's really nice of you.
la, la, la.
So sorry I can't help ladybirder - already have 6 dogs at home not to mention pigs, cat, chickens, ducks and geese but will ask around.
Why the 'la la la's' Tilly??
The laa la las are to bump the post
I see! Thanks Mojo !
Yes, I'm la, laing for that reason.

What we need is someone who lives out in the country who knows lots of people, one of whom might be looking for a dog.
I've sent text to stepmum on farm in Wiltshire. Always has rescued dogs, but sadly dogless, at moment.

She's keeping the post going pp.
rocky this charity has no premises of its own and rents kennels at various sites, Godstone, Gatwick, Farnham etc. Yes I'm sure there is a heat source but Copper will not have the door closed and therefore the heat escapes. Don't ask me to explain I just read that on his thread on page 8. I'm told he paces most of the night. They rent a kennel for a dog on the PTS list at the pound if they have the funds, and sometimes if they haven't or rely on a lot of wonderful people who foster for them. The are always short of funds so if you want to donate they will be very grateful. The Donate button is on the R/H side at the Top. Thank you so much rocky, they desperately need help and so does Copper.

I wish I hadn't seen this post now. Poor thing.

Thank you pixie. Your step-mum needn't be dogless for long.
I've just donated £50 to the Red Cross Phillipines appeal but I'm sure I can find a bit more down the back of the sofa.
Shall we try again, tomorrow, ladybirder? I have to go now.
It's a bit ironic that we have another post about naming a new puppy.
