What To Feed A Mastin

Just inherited a 10 week Mastin puppy. I need to know what to feed him. Please can someone help?

Any pet food store will sell puppy food.

You will won't to look out for something more specific to a large breed than your average puppy food. A quick Google search for "large breed puppy food" brings up quite a few options.

boxy, someone gets one cos they think its a good idea then realises its a live animal and wants shot usually

I had never heard of it until I googled it, it looks like a big mastiff, not really the kind of dog you just happen across and take on. it is a big commitment and will eat you out of house and home. You really need to look up the breed requirements or you could cause problems later in the dogs life, as with all giant breeds.

Good luck, I think you are going to need it.

Frank97, it is a Spanish Mastiff, probably only recognised as a breed in Spain.

Given that the Dog is a Spanish Mastiff, and if I remember rightly the OPer
is married to a Spaniard and possibly living in Spain, maybe the food options are a bit different to the UK?

I had a dog that was a GSD/Bullmastiff cross and he was a good size. He had a brilliant nature - big soft lump.

The mastin dog must be at least 77 cm high, the bitch at least 72 cm, but both are quite often much higher. The usual weight is about 80-100 kg.

Wolf, I agree, with the right upbringing they are adorable dogs, unfortunately not everybody knows how to bring them up.

Apparently the pups should never be homed where there are children.

I love mastiffs but they are a monstrous beast if they are not controlled.
