Dog Passports

Hi, can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether dogs need a passport between Northern Ireland and the UK please?

We've got at the moment 1 x Alaskan Malamute, 1 x Kommondor, a Deerhound x Greyhound Lurcher type affair and a we're going to collect an Irish wolfhound Pup which I'd been waiting for for ages but the bitch only had four pups and I was fifth on their waiting list. I had a call yesterday from the breeder asking if I still wanted one as the person originally destined to pick the pup up decided against it at the last minute. They're going on holiday on Monday so we're coming over on the 2.30 ferry tonight, driving to Donegal then catching the Belfast night crossing.
I'd have to find out from my mother and brother-in-law about stopping for a coffee as they're the drivers and I know we're detouring to my Dad's cottage in Donegal to see if it's still there I think, since none of us have been there in a while :-)
