Woofgang and Lankeela, I probably ought to elaborate just for the sake of clarity.
The scenario we were presented with was leave a deposit on the dog to secure your place in the queue for the litter as they often have time wasters and this whittles them down- I can see that, I don't mind that in fact, and I think it's reasonable. We were the supposed to go and see the pups at 5-6 weeks old- that was the agreement, choose a pup and if at that point they were not up to our expectations etc we could be refunded. That too sounded reasonable to me as much before that and you can't get a good idea of the pups, plus they will still be with the *** in their litter scenario, so you can get a good feel for all of the dogs and their breeders relationship with them. I think all of that's reasonable. However when they were a month or so old we got a call from the breeder saying that he was going into hospital for some surgery and that he would be ' in touch'. By the time we managed to get hold of him again, it was time for the pups to come home and when we visited the above scenario took place.
Our main problem was we believed him about going into hospital, which I'm not at all sure was true, otherwise we would have seen the pup and it's surroundings at 5 weeks and run a mile. I suspect but can't prove that he expected us to go there, fall in love with the puppy and meekly leave without any papers or arguing. Perhaps he does that lots of people, since he called us 'petty' and 'stupid' for wanting the KC reg the puppy was advertised with. Either way, either my money comes back by close of business on Monday or he gets taken to court and that will involve costs and expenses for viewing plus I will cause him a world of pain online. Until more people expose him online and complain to the relevant authorities, clubs and sites, this will continue happening. I reiterate I had no intention of buying the dog unseen, but we were misled into not being able to view at 4-6 weeks as you normally would. I personally think the whole outfit is one giant money making nightmare with little or no care for the dogs they keep or breed:(
