What Breed Is My Hound?

Evening all :-)

I've had my doggy for a little while now.
I rescued her from a shelter, and they were a bit... er... 'unsure' when it came to her breed.

They said, as far as they know, she's a pug x french bulldog, but I'm not convinced.

It doesn't matter a great deal, I'm more curious than anything.

People assume she's got Pug in her, because of her colour, but someone stopped me a week or so ago and said she had the face of a Bull Mastiff!!

Any ideas?

I would say there's some Mastiff there definitely, and she is most definitely a beauty. There's nothing pathetic at all about her being your best mate x

Definitely some Pug in there, Babysham, looking at muzzle and tail set,
I don't think she's French Bulldog. They have sticky up ears, don't they? She does have the look of a mastiff.

Nice dog, by the way.

I did think pug, but mainly because of her colouring.
I now find myself looking through endless Pug pics, and thinking she hasn't got that squishy face they have.

Not sure but a lovely dog.
Question Author
That's exactly what I thought. My Mum said she knows two people with Pug x French Bulldogs, and they both have the sticky up ears.

The more I look at her now, the more I see a Mastiff.

She is such a lovely, well natured dog :-)

Right, so we've ruled out French Bulldog... which I thought anyway, but what about a Pug x Bull Mastiff? How would that even work?! :D
she's lovely a bit of boxer ?
I presume it was a male pug and a female mastiff! Oh dear.
Question Author
Yep, that was another of my thoughts.

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but would a vet be able to pin point her breed, or would it be a guessing game?

Again, I don't give two hoots what she is, she's lovely and makes me smile so much, but I'm more curious than anything :-)
If she is part Bullmastiff she will be a big dog with muscles - is she big?

You'r not going to breed from her are you? Is that why you want to know?
Looks like a Dutch mountain dog to me ;-)
Just tell people she is a Heinz ( 57 varieties)
Guess someone could do some DNA testing if you want to pay £££'s

Haha! Dirty little puggy :P

God no. She was spayed after having a litter with her previous owner. The shelter we got her from reckon that's why she was given up :-(

It could be an Andorran railway hound also...
Question Author
She's four years old, and about the size of a bulldog, though not so chunky.
She's bloody heavy though! :)
Well done for taking her. She looks lovely. Enjoy your time with her, Babysham.
She's lovely, I'd say mastiff cross pug, google image shows some very similar.
