Cats are difficult animals to understand. It may be that she has had a fright, or just wasn't in the mood to be stroked when your friend approached her.
If it continues take her to the vet. But they will have very little to go on. You see that she is eating, is she drinking and is she using the litter tray as per normal?
It is frustrating when you suspect that they may be ill and you feel a little helpless. You know her best - keep an eye on her. She trusts you and she knows that you will keep her safe.

if she is an indoor cat its hard to think what she would be frightened of if shes not been out , i would be inclined to think she is in pain as she is hiding and flinched when your friend went to stroke her , could she have fallen off somthing and hurt herself cats are very good at hiding pain and not showing they are unwell, i would see how she is tomorrow if no better give your vet a ring and ask what he thinks xx
