I was just sipping my tea, idly watching a lovely plump robin redbreast pecking at the lawn when another robin, also with a red breast, came up and fed it.
Why would that happen? Was it a baby from last year?

Perhaps it was the male feeding the female - it is coming up to the breeding season and they will be nesting and getting ready to lay eggs so perhaps she needs extra energy.

Most unusual,Robins are very territorial

Would the female have a red breast then? I have always thought it was only the males who did.

Well I never - you learn a lot on this site! Thank you naval xx
That must have been a joy to see. I see robins in my garden but never seen two together. Wonderful.
I agree, it sounds like some courtship going on.
A gift from the male to woo the female, a story as old as creation!
I have a pair in my garden at the moment. Holding my breath for babies.
