I used an old fashioned neck break type trap with a bit of bacon rind as bait.
Humane trap using hamster food. I am assuming that you have found droppings and know where to put traps out.
They love chocolate so you can use that as bait.
I second Silliemillie.
A trap baited with Rowntrees fruit pastilles.
Mrs Slocums pussy would have had it sorted in no time.
Use peanut butter as bait. There's very rarely just one mouse.

Seriously, have you thought about borrowing a cat ?
mikey, i doubt if mrs slocombe's pussy has been anywhere near a rodent

aelmpvw....no rodent would dare !
Place this poison in lids under furniture or where the mice hide. Keep out of reach of kids & pets.

Ta for that Tambo.
We had mice in the house following the demise of our last cat. Used a humane trap baited with peanut butter with chocolate bits mixed in. It worked but then I read that you have to release them at least a mile from home or they just come back again. Mr Lead then got ruthless and bought some traditional spine-breaking traps, which worked all too well, indicating we had a problem - not just a solitary mouse that the cat brought in! We solved the problem by buying a plug-in device called a vermatik and kept it on every night for about 6 weeks as apparently this deterrent takes a while to be effective, in the meantime we continued with the traps, which eventually became redundant.

Thanks Very Much for that one, MissLead.
How do Woodelf.

Whichever way you decide to go, please could I ask that you discount glue traps (if you were even considering these). They are horrendously cruel, and no creature (even those considered vermin) deserves to die like that.

If you go down the 'humane trap' route, make sure you release them a long way away from home....we used to release ours on some wasteland near to our house and OH thinks he's released the same mouse on several occasions. Mind you, don't ask me how he knows. :o/
Before you consider the poison make sure you know where it is nesting, they don't die straight away and if you cannot get to the nest the smell is horrendous. Had to have a cashiering point completely dismantled at work once.
With the humane traps (I am very squeamish) just pick it up put whole thing in a box and rive it a couple of miles and top it out.
Use a specific mouse poison, not a general rodent bait, put down poison in various different areas in the vicinity of mouse sighting. Do not waste your time with a cat, they usually cause the problem in the first place. Do not block up any holes until you are sure the problem is sorted. Never ever use glue boards.
