I thought it was only when they were nesting!

Thanks everyone - they are such a pest in towns etc.
Go to Llandudno & see the size of the dam things Rob, they are as big as Eagles, they wanted to cull because of the mess / problems they cause to the public, but because of the Protection could not go any further.
I see no reason why we can't live side by side with seagulls. They were undoubtedly there before we moved in.
As long as they don't steal my food!

You don't know the meaning of pain until a seagull has shat on your bare head! I'm sure they have satnavs up their jacksies. If Churchill had employed them in 1939 the war would have been over by Christmas.
Really? Before it was built that was just a rocky coastline, perfect for seagulls. Do you think seabirds didn't live on Great Orme?
I'm a bit biased, if I could be any bird it would be a seagull.

We who live on the coast know that the gulls are not the problem. It is the dirkeads who think feeding them chips and burger waste is somehow a must have when they bring their tracksuits out for some fresh air. So in the winter we train them to attack anyone eating from a big take away bag, box, or bucket. We teach them to queue up outside McDs, Greggs, KFC, Chippies, and all kebab and curry premises. They are protected to keep them from harm by the types listed above. I can take a picnic to the beach in May before the influx begins, by September the gulls will have been conditioned to seize the opportunity.

No such beast as a Sea Gull, they are GULLS

DB, not quite you didn't, you asked if there were any OTHER sort, but there are no Seagulls
Seagulls is an acceptable common name for the Gull family. If we're being pedantic there is no specific bird just called a Gull.
