R I P Big Eddie, You'll Be Sadly Missed
52 Answers
A couple of hours ago we had to take Eddie, our great big Dobie Dog to our Vets to be PTS. Age caught up with him, his back end has been a bit wobbly for a while now, he was a big lad 31" at the shoulder and 54kgs, and his back legs just went from under him fortunately in the garden not out for a walk.
We've had him for just over 11 years since he was 8 weeks old and couldn't have asked for a nicer Dog, he will be sadly missed. First time we've been without a Dog for about 25 years, it's going to be strange.
When the time is right we will be doing the rounds of the local rescues there will be a suitable hound (or two) out there somewhere for us I'm sure.

I leaned over to stroke her but she's been dead for at least eighteen months and wasn't there.
You never lose them.

Hell Baldric, you have had to bear this twice now in quick succession. Gotta be hard on you both. Our hound gets less able by the month but is still a treasure. We talk fleetingly about the obvious and pay the vet bills ungrudgingly, but dread the time. Move into your new home and use the space that we all know you will have allocated for a new pal when you are ready.
