Fledgling Blue Tits
14 Answers
Mr Thug was removing shrubs today and dislodged a blue tit nest with fledglings inside. He put the nest into another bush but I'm not sure the mother will return. Will mum find her young?

Are you watching the nest to see if the parents are feeding them because it won't take long before they go rapidly downhill? If it was me, I would watch for a couple of hours and if feeding wasn't taking place I would take them to my nearest wildlife rescue centre. At least that would give them a chance.
Spring is really a bad time of year to be taking out hedges as you have sadly found out.

cleggie, I don't know about your Council, but mine doesn't observe that rule, much to my digust and several angry emails to them when I have seen it happening during nesting time. They always tell me that the 'operatives' will have checked first, this isn't so because I have confronted the 'operatives' and they look at me as if I am daft! Maddening.
Good news Thugu, it sounds like the chicks are at a fairly advanced stage and will hopefully be ok, if they are continued to be fed by the adult/s.
I've had to hold-fire on some fence work, due to young great tits being fed.
A cat knows they are there, but luckily the nest seems quite well concealed.
