Hawthorn blossom smells of decomposing bodies. I'm surrounded by the flipping things. Very bad luck to bring the blossom in to the house.
Too much to describe but it's beautiful.
?...I thought it was orange blossom that was bad luck, hc.
And hawthorn.

I have a huge camellia outside my window, home to long tailed tits. :)
I also thought it was Hawthorn (often called May) that was bad luck to pick - probably because it stinks:-)
It's a really beautiful day here. I can see green fields and hedgerows bathed in hazy golden sunlight.
One thing I can't see is weeds. I have been weeding all week. My garden is comparitively weedfree. Hooray!

Its funny how we all receive smells so differently. The May blossom is one of my absolute favourites. I feel cheerful and blessed when its it full bloom.

I've just been given a humungous allotment, so I have my work cut out for a while
My crumbling incinerator
Gerrit shifted, Bertrum. Must be an eyesore.
Out of my first floor lounge window today I can see .....

an empty window fixed bird feeder. I've had to give in to the flamin' magpies. It took them a while to learn how to land on the feeder but once they did they just cleared everything out at one go. They were taking the whole fatball at a single go and last week took the fatball complete with the spiked holder!
This time last year the feeder was busier than Heathrow but sadly I've had to say enough is enough. :((((
Conker trees in blossom, aquilegias, wallflowers, and beautiful perfume from lonicera. And someone mowing down the lovely bright blue green alkanet on the verge.!!
I despair
The nettles I let grow last year have taken over half the garden. I'll restrict their spread next year.
Magpies, robins, tits, blackbirds, and starlings, are enjoying hearty meals.
Question Author
Shame captain2, could you put some wide netting over the feeders?

so can't get a cover over it. When they first started taking the whole fatball I put an elastic band over the fatball and the spiked holder - result? one day later they took the holder as well.
