The dog story reminds me of many years back when I was a youth. Walking home from work in the evening I reached a pedestrian crossing and found a traffic problem due to an injured dog. Clearly it had run out and been hit, and was bleeding badly. No car was stopping. just driving around it. Unsurprising I suppose. I'm unsure how I did it but managed to move it to the centre island, but could not really help it more. Found a house nearby that allowed me to use their phone to call somewhere, unsure where. Too long ago. Maybe the RSPCA or maybe the police; can't think for the life of me. Anyway was asked daft questions like, did the dog jump up and run away (!) and I explained it was hurt and unlikely to survive. I lay there where put seemingly unconcerned. The authorities seemed in no hurry to come and see if they could save it. Was rather upsetting at the time.
